Katakamunam is an alternate world that has coexisted with Japan since ancient times.
It is a collective expression of Japan's ancient gods and the consciousness of ancient Japanese people, and it also represents the very concept of Japan's existence.
One day, something strange happens in the peaceful Katakamunam.
A distortion in space-time has appeared at the edge of the world of Katakamunam.
Receiving this report, Amaterasu ponders and begins to tell the residents of similar incidents that have occurred in the past during times of national crisis.
"World War II, the collapse of the shogunate, the arrival of the Black Ships, etc." However, the speed and scale of this space-time distortion is incomparable to anything from the past.
Sensing the gravity and urgency of the situation, Amaterasu decides to reincarnate five people - Tatsuno-Mikoto, Kaka, Hibiki, Futomani, and Chisaki - in modern-day Japan to investigate.
The five reincarnated individuals will adapt to modern life, interact with modern people, and solve various problems through their daily lives in society, all in an effort to prevent the collapse of Katakamunam.
Katakamuna is a unique writing system and ideological system that is said to be found in ancient Japanese documents. Katakamuna documents are composed of geometric shapes that combine circles and straight lines, and are characterized by being written in a spiral rather than vertically. These documents are said to contain information about ancient Japanese science, technology, and philosophy, and are still being interpreted and studied in various ways today.
KAKA
A member of the 12 tribes of monkeys, he is curious and sociable. Using his special ability "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil," he can sense things that ordinary people cannot see, speak, or hear. His occupation is working as a vendor, making use of his natural sociability.
HIBIKI
A member of the Mi tribe, one of the 12 tribes, she is a kind, harmonious girl with a big appetite. She uses her special ability, "If We Meet in a Dream," to put people to sleep or make them dream, thereby avoiding problems. She works as a designer.
TATSUNOMIKOTO
He is a leader of the Tatsu tribe, one of the 12 tribes, and can use Katakamuna (ancient Japanese writing) to activate various powers. He makes a living by running a mobile takoyaki food truck called "Tako Shige."
FUTOMANI
He is a member of the Boar tribe, one of the 12 tribes, and is of the muscular type. He is skilled in ancient martial arts (Kobudo, Genji Imperial Style, etc.) and sumo. He works as a systems engineer, making use of his dexterity and dynamic vision.
CHISAKI
A member of the Dog tribe, one of the 12 tribes, she is pure-hearted and friendly, but can also be clingy and demanding. Using her special abilities of "night vision and smell," she can track tracks and arrive at her destination with precision. She is a university student by occupation.
